As a result, the emphasis should be on understanding the foundations upon which the best academic success can be attained. This means that factors that promote students' mental and emotional well-being are crucial to their academic success. Hence, the main objective of this study was to investigate the effect of happiness on the academic performance of international students in South Korea. Three happiness variables were retained: social relationships, educational environments, and financial support. A descriptive survey research design was adopted as the research design. The data used was collected through questionnaires from 281 international students in South Korea using a purposive sampling technique. Data was analyzed using Pearson Product Moment Correlation analysis, and Multiple Linear regression analysis was done with the help of coefficients, R2, adjusted R2, and P-values as validation techniques in SPSS. The findings conclude that social relationships and educational environments significantly affect academic performance, while financial support is insignificant. The study therefore recommended that the school administration focus more on enhancing social relationships and creating safe and welcoming environments for all, since they were found to positively influence the performance of foreign students.</p>2024-09-30T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2024 choke Elizabeth Kongo, Park Seung Woo, Chung Yong-Kyohttps://aarcentre.com/ojs3/index.php/jaash/article/view/341LEGAL AID FOR POOR AND INDIGENT LITIGANT IN BANGLADESH2024-08-14T08:18:14+00:00Kazi Sonia Tasnimkazi.tasnim@bu.edu.bdKaniz Tania Bint-E-Basarkaniz.basar@bu.edu.bd<p><em>Legal aid is a widely accepted system for poor and indigent litigant with intends to ensure natural justice in Bangladesh. Proponents of community participation espouse divergent views but concur that positive attributes are realised. In South Africa the post-1994 democratic dispensation has created an enabling environment for community participation at different levels of government. This has been necessitated in part to the participatory approach the communities undertook to dislodge the apartheid regime. In South Africa, through appropriate constitutional provisions, communities have been empowered to have a stake in the running of their own affairs through elected councillors and municipal officials. With community participation, people have felt to be part of a solution to problems in their communities and this has helped to eliminate poverty through the engagement of private sector to provide services which cannot be efficiently delivered by government. Lack of interest in municipal affairs has also resulted in non-participation by some communities.</p>2024-09-30T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2024 Prof. Dr. Jephias Mapuvahttps://aarcentre.com/ojs3/index.php/jaash/article/view/347 ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACTS OF ILLEGAL TRADE IN ENDANGERED SPECIES: BANGLADESH’S COMPLIANCE WITH INTERNATIONAL STANDARDS2024-09-20T18:33:02+00:00Sinthia Siddique Prithasinthiapritha01@gmail.com<p>Bangladesh is one of the world's most environmentally vulnerable countries. As a result, a diverse array of environmental crimes and harms can be identified in Bangladesh. Wildlife trafficking has grown significantly in Bangladesh during the last few years. The impacts of illegal trade on the environment can be wide-ranging. Despite the fact that wildlife trafficking is a significant and geographically widespread problem in Bangladesh, it may not be given much priority or not seen as an urgent or important issue, or even if acknowledged, it may not be taken into consideration. In Bangladesh, the government also takes initiatives to meet the challenges towards the protection of wildlife. Additionally, Bangladesh's national legislation and the role of law enforcement agencies in combating wildlife trafficking are insufficient to prevent this crime. In particular, this proposed thesis aims to addresses the challenges for combatting this crime and the adverse effects of the trade and trafficking on the environment. This research focuses on the relevant laws prevailing in Bangladesh in case of the protection of wildlife and how effective they are. The study is qualitative in its nature, and the study is based on various kinds of primary and secondary sources of data. This paper recommended as where the Act should be amended, protection of wildlife and controlling wildlife trafficking has been highlighted based on the research findings. Finally, emphasis has been made for the immediate requirements of Act to ensure complete protection of wildlife in Bangladesh.</p>2024-09-30T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2024 Sinthia Siddique Pritha
